Singapore Flyer

Only when I came back did I realize I took no shots of the place at all except these 2-3 that were angle tests before I started with my model. We went up for 2 rounds and there's a shot that I really really like taken in the capsule. Must wait till July's issue's out before I can post it T___T

Today's most expensive item was a bag from Chanel, I am however really really really in love with the heels, which, er, I think I cropped out in my shot for that look. ^^;

Last shoot that's near is on Saturday, then I'll finally have days off from shooting to start on pictures from as far back as November.

The speaker list this year for CGOverdrive's exciting, I wanna go~

It feels like Tokyo's ages ago, yet I haven't had time to even properly touch any shots from the major shoots.

I'm like a walking zombie, missing so much sleep I feel like throwing up. Never had so much work work before, except maybe during my time in Lasalle's foundation year, trying to perfect every single detail for my submissions, going for rifle training and preparing for my competitions, having weiqi classes in between, memorizing games, and sleeping 2 hours a day for a straight 2 weeks... Now I think about it I can't quite figure out how I survived.

Finished a set of photos for today's deadline and finally went to sleep around 1pm. Woke up to a call some 3-4 hours later.

I stared at the caller ID, zomgitsmystylist. First thought: There's light outside, but it can't be the afternoon anymore, it must be morning. Omfg did I oversleep for my shoot?! I searched around for a clock to find none, flipped open the laptop but the battery was flat.

*panics even more* But I set 2 alarms, how could I have not heard it if it's morning and I'd slept for over 20 hours?

I held the phone, dashed out of bed, still panicking, thinking maybe I should jump over my balcony or find an accident to meet myself with, or both. (I actually headed in that direction, and it was really my thought then)

Then something in my mind clicked, I suddenly came to a realization, with the phone still ringing in my hand, that it was not the stylist for tomorrow's shoot that's calling! I breathed and sat back down on my bed. As I picked up the phone I saw that the time was 5pm and I should likely still be living in Tuesday.

Ah I just aged a couple years there.

There'd been a lot of hilarious stories during photoshoots, pity I can't talk about them.

Last night I was asked if I wanted to participate in the 1st World Mind Sport Games to represent Singapore in weiqi, I really wanted to say yes, but because it's open to both pros and amateurs and not a lowly amateur competition which I could just join for fun, it means either instant death or instant death or instant death or maybe a slim chance of seeing Lee Sedol and/or Lee Changho play...

Singapore Flyer tomorrow, pity they're only allowing us to shoot for one ride. /_\

When we talk about days, there are... some good, some bad, some uneventful and some special ones. And then I found out there are, at times, dramatic days, with extremely wonderful and nasty things happening at once. I wish I could write a little more about these few days, but I've little time and it's passing by so quickly, I can only think about how ill and miserable I am feeling at this moment...

Some photos I took while staying at IFS Tokyo:

During my stay there the table had always been pushed against the wall on the right to give me more space for photoshooting. And it'd always been filled with stuff from edge to edge. *hopeless*

<3 Apartment lobby. This white glowing box is our mailbox. It's so coool okay. :3

The bath was a great size... and I realized that I'd never appreciated the heated toilet seat enough until I returned to Singapore.

Ahh I wonder when I can go back again. Even though I felt like I shopped a lot, now that I'm back it feels like I haven't bought much clothes for myself at all. (Even though I repeatedly told myself to stop buying for shoots, majority of my items turned out to be for the very purpose anyway T_T)

I'd been working and trying to enjoy life back in sg.

On Monday we had a shoot that involved 48 J. Co donuts in my living room (nice stuff). The aftermath isn't exactly glorious so I'd been persuaded not to post the photo. It's nothing super epic, but Kagestuki (she wasn't shooting with me) and I had fun eating 6 within moments afterwards. XD

It's only 2 and I'm sleepy, shall go to bed... ;_;

Some scans of work done in Feb:

Day35-38: Home

It's great to be back. Tokyo had been wonderful.

Just saw Smitten, someone had bought a copy to show my mum, my spreads look great, I'm happy~

As for the previous 3 days... my ears were ringing for the longest time. 2 whole days, the longest it had ever lasted after a gig... Usually it would be gone by the morning I wake up. T_T

On Monday I went to see Nonami Hiroshi's exhibition, the flyer was among a stack I received from the Alamode Night.

I loved the images of the Koitsukihime dolls, I like them better than his usual portrait works. Maybe I'm biased because of the features. The prices seem to range between 2,700,000-3,500,000yen for the dolls. Yes, that's some 30,000USD for a doll, but they were really beautiful.

Bought a Takato Yamamoto artbook then went back to Akibahara to look for more Toshiaki Kato books but there were none. Picked up Amano's Arslan book, it's not the one I thought it was but it's okay, only 840yen.

I also found out that Alice Auaa's made for small people. >_>

Wondered over my sleep about what I should do with all the new weight as I didn't plan to buy so many books since the mailing. (And as I checked in today, my luggage totalled to be some 47kg)

Spent Tuesday morning attempting to clean up the apartment for my very last shoot happening that afternoon, ending at almost 10. (I know I said no more shoots unless a bishie miraculously appear, and well, I guess I can say it sort of happened).

Wednesday was a bit more gift shopping and walking around. I bought an Alice Auaa belt which can double as a pretty nice choker.

Tokyo had been wonderful, and without all your help and support it wouldn't have been possible. I've a shoot in the morning tomorrow but I'd still like to express my gratitude.

Thank you Chris for being the greatest help and being such a diligent assistant for so so many days and shoots, Ed for allowing me to stay over at IFS and going along for the meetings and studio visits, derie and mum for going to Kyoto with me, I know you two went solely to accompany and show me around, Kagetsuki for always contributing to epicness, Kozue for enduring the freezing cold and rain, Sawaka for taking time out despite your crazy schedules between flights, Kazma for being so extremely kind, Kuni for assisting me on last minute notice, Derek for caring even after returning to Singapore, and Ian, Chiaki, Miho, Chiyo, Aya, Ai, Anna, ND, Peixuan, Riyozake, Tim, Yasmine, thank you all so much... and thank you Selia, for being so beautiful for me.

Tokyo Day34: Alamode Night

Wonderful experience... my ears are ringing nonstop again. Worse than the nights at the X Japan concerts because I was right next to the speaks today. =_=

Met some wonderful people. And the greatest thing... ahh I will write about it next time.

Opening was Rose de Reficul et Guiggles. I couldn't understand much, but they were awesome.

Totally love this guy.

The kid was awesome too.

This one was playing guy on this side, and woman on the other.

The setlist alternates between performances and DJs. I'm not sure who were the DJs in between, sorry XD

Next was Blood.

Ummm. Fu~ki is cool. But he was facing the other side mostly, if not his bangs just blocked his face every time he turned over.

Only 3 shots. The one of Kiwamu was actually taken during GPKISM's slot. ^^;

One more DJ, then came The Candy Spooky Theater.

He was so fucking beautiful (pardon my language) I could have cried. He was almost the best thing about tonight. And he wears Auaa. My perfect muse.

Oh and I thought this was super super cool too. Their stage presence was so good.

Then there was DJ Sisen~ *forgot to take photos*

GPKISM next.

Ryonai from Blam Honey as guest. I love all the stuff from his line Suppurate System so much. ;_;

Followed the guys up to the backstage area afterwards and hung around with GPK, missed a bit of spectrum-x and I was too lazy to run back to grab my camera. They were pretty good. Nice stage presence, all of them had, actually. It's been a while since I'd been to gigs back in Singapore... I hope streetfest promises a good startlist.

Ah well, so, yes, good day. *happiness* I even dressed up a little for the occasion. It also makes the most expensive set I'd ever gone out with. Na+H top, h.Naoto blood skirt, Laundry coat. =X

Awesome day, though I'd just remembered that I'd missed the last chance to see Harajuku on a Sunday this trip. Ah well~ next time I guess.

It's been a long long time since I'd taken any event photos. The last time I was in Tokyo was thanks to The Arts House (covering Spotlight Singapore in Tokyo). And thereafter they would call me for dates I'm away, just when I'd booked my air tickets. Always. It's been happening so many times I begun anticipating it even. Booooo, such is life. T_T

Tokyo Day31-33

Saturday, April 12, 2008

This last stretch of my trip will include shopping, shopping, and shopping.

Well though I did a lot in the first 2-3 weeks too but they were mostly for shoots other people, now it'd just be for myself. XD

Mailed 20kg of stuff back on Thursday with the help of my assistant Kuni. I decided, that should be it, no more books, I'm not particularly fascinated with anything at the moment. I should have quite a little space for the umbrellas I am planning to buy, and misc stuff like that. Yet now my luggage is once more 5 artbooks heavier. Oh Jingna I wonder why.

Spent yesterday morning changing my flight from the 19th to 17th. I was put on damned hold for 20min on the Zuji line I can memorize the line they repeat over the music every half a minute now. I gave up and had Peixuan to ring up for me, she waited for another 30min. To then find out for ticket changes now I am supposed to call the airline side in Japan since I am here. How would I have known when the eticket said when you're overseas dial this number xxxxxxxx. My wasted long distance call was enough for a good meal at Sun and Moon.

Shopped in Asakusa in the afternoon, I bought 4 umbrellas, 3 wooden dolls, a small kanzashi, and some other random stuff that added up to 370 before I realized I don't spend that much even in two months in Singapore, then again I realized I bought them for shoots. I need to stop obsessing with my sets.

I tried on a Moitie pinstriped 2 piece (vest+long skirt, suit-ish), I don't know if the loose fitting was due to the fact that I didn't wear a blouse inside or what... the skirt is very very nice though. If the vest fit better I am... very.. very...

Oh no we are not spending money on clothes we have no occasions to wear to.

Day 33: Shopping madness

Even though today didn't start on the best note a day can begin on (I burnt my fingers at the stove), I can say it was turning brighter so quickly every hour I'm almost overflown with happiness.

Met asuka111 around noon, had ramen for lunch and showed him a few shops. Just for a few moments I had some time to shop too.

My Alice Auaa obsession continues:

*loves* I'd been eyeing this for years. Decided to buy the sleeves later on too. It sucks that Alice Auaa boutique doesn't allow trying on for all cut-sew garments. Even if they're the cheaper range they still cost a few hundreds a piece, we need to try damn it~!

Moi Meme Moitie lace/velvet choker.

My lovely h.Naoto bag.

And because noah-kh was bugging me for it (the first time in a very very long time), I agreed to look for 竹谷隆之作品集【漁師の角度】for him. 20,000yen and he changed his mind.

So instead of buying the book for him I ended up picking up 3 myself.

Yoshitaka Amano's Maten, Hiroaki Samura's Hitodenashi no Koi (The Love of the brute), Toshiaki Kato's 幻神.

Maten's good, one of the books I seem to like more.

I bought Toshiaki Kato's one based on the cover, and I think it was a wonderful wonderful thing because it's absolutely absolutely love. I can't believe there's no entry on him on wiki.

Kagetsuki and I both agreed that this one reminded us a little of Kaori Yuki and we wondered for a moment what's she doing.

Ahhh love. Only love can describe it. *adds to list of obsessions* I need more of his artbooks. This one is from 1995, it's going to be such a pain to find. *remembers her obsession with trying to collect Suemi Jun's works at one point of time when she was young*

Ah anyway. I had to hold back happiness from showing on my face when I saw Hiroaki Samura's artbook. I never really knew he had one, I'll get everything anyway.

It's a good book, but was so cheated by this innocent looking cover. Quote from Animenation:
Acclaimed manga artist Hiroaki Samura, best known in America as the creator of "Blade of the Immortal," turns his attention to an examination of violent sexuality in this exotic 106 page collection of monochrome illustrations depicting delicately drawn women bound, tortured, cut, pierced, beaten, dismembered, and sadistically tortured. Considering the extremely graphic and unsettling content of this art collection, viewer discretion is highly recommend.

Well they're pretty heavy and definitely NSFW, but since I really like his works I'd still share 2, nothing too extreme. Sorry the images are slightly distorted, I don't really wanna spread my book wide open :P

One of my favorites from the book.

Some of them are a lot closer to realism than his usual stuff, which is what made the images more provocative in my opinion. A good book, rating would be R21 in SG term. I don't like him one bit lesser, probably more. Blade of the Immortal 22 is out here in Tokyo, I want to read argh. Though had I known the language I'd be buying home a truckload full of mangas.

Thank you for reading. :3
