Markus Surrey.

Been a while since any boy graced these pages.

After breaking for the last 2 days I finally feel like I can look at photos without loathing.

It's ironic how I'd been saying Yishun's such a blardy inconvenient place to stay. I'm actually starting to like it. And just as I'm starting to feel a little affection towards the place, we're going to move again. Ah ahhh~

My eyes still hurt, I really have to keep reminding myself that I have to go to the doctors.

iPhone

Yay. Now I can finally stop having to run back and forth to people on set with my laptop for references.

4 more shoots before I go. I'll survive this.

so so so so so so so so tired.

i meant to take a good rest after i quit my job. which i think i forgot to bring up, but now you know. anyway, it was last week. exactly one month. it's becoming a typical zer0 kinda behaviour, kids please do not do this~ hahahaa XD.

then it happened, as i probably expected it to. i felt so detached and rusty i decided i should do some shoots, and suddenly before i realized i've shot too much.

7 models, 4 days = too many photos, totally worn out.

i also found out that i'm not meant to be a mover. my muscles ache like every freaking where. partially from carrying the furniture, partially from using the nikon d3 which is as heavy as a digital back. freaky.

ok, sleep now. pictures later.

Neverland.

Kagetsuki and Dawn.

Yes we know it's blasphemous to have mud on Moitie shoes. But gotta do what we gotta do for photos.

And yes, carried the furniture there. Definitely gained enough bruises and cuts to pain ourselves with for the next couple days.

And yes, I forgot to take photos of our suffering.

But it's okay. It's all over now. Till next time. XD

We tried dolling up my sister for the shoot too, pity she's still not tall enough. She can now brag that she's had the chance to wear Moitie at 9 though. Isn't that impressive. Even I haven't had one chance. Then again, I'd probably never ever fit into any of their stuff. Haaaaaaiiiz. I'd stick to my h.Naoto. <3>I am not an otaku.

My heart just shattered a little more to find out that I won't be able to meet Amano this time. I was so hoping he'd sign my Dream Hunters. It'd be so totally sweet to have both Gaiman and Amano's signatures on it.

No, actually the autograph part doesn't matter that much, because I really don't collect these autograph things. I guess I was looking forward to the experience of being in the presence of an artist whom I admire more than anything else. There aren't many to begin with, I can only think of Amano, JW Waterhouse and Beksinski right now. Hahah ah well~ life is like that.

There's this weird happiness about how I'm spending so much. Hahaha like what the hell right~ It's so weird how I'd walk 30min to some place just to save 10cents for something in a cheaper bakery in everyday life.

Anyway anyone have interesting places of interest you suggest I should visit or can suggest for photo taking? I'm pretty sure my guide will be more than capable, but feel free to share your experiences anyway. XD

My resolution for this time:
- Stop eating pepper lunch's diced beef for every dinner (which I did the last time)
- Go to Nihon Ki-in and try not to be tempted to sell myself in order to buy a goban or shell stones, which I'm sure I am obsessed with and will never ever use and totally exceeds my years of savings. (I'm generally hopelessly obsessed with anything that is beautiful in packaging and to the touch)
- Meet up with friends
- Not exceed 20kg/$500 on books, which happens every single time i go to a place i'd been to less than twice, and end up having to carry them onboard with me and act like they don't weigh anything at all.
- Bandai museum (if time permits)

To sum that up I sound like a total absolute nerd. Hahaha.

The week had been totally like a roller coaster ride. It's a long (boring) post, but please let me journal it so I can have memory of just how difficult and hilarious and carelessly stupid I had been. Lol. The shortened points form really cannot put across just how painful it had been though.

Things kept changing EVERY DAY, and every day I waited and waited for different sides to make their updates so I can confirm and book something without the air ticket prices soaring up into the sky.

- entered J Rock Revolution's ticket lottery for 28th March
- worried I may not be able to get it, signed up for the JRR Tour group (incl concert tix)
- reserved 25Mar-14Apr air tickets

- suddenly remembered I had to go to Kyoto
- asked friend for help, was told he'd be coming back to SG for good end of march
- no other options, changed my departure forward by 10++ days
- no tickets, changed to JAL for $400+ (student promo)
- look for monthly rental place for cheaper lodging alternatives

- was called the next morning to be told promo's for students studying in Japan, stay limit was 30 days, price not inclusive of insurance *heartbreaks*
- needed more than 30 days, +$350. *weeps*
- decided it became unaffordable, sought out other travel agents
- booked for an UA one for about $1400 incl tax+insurance
- pounded about where to stay (dorm only offered rental per monthly), another friend offered a place

Yayyy so now it's all settled! Then...

- a friend said she's going to Tokyo, limited stay, wanna shoot.
- dates clashes right on with JRR Tour. =_________=
- my heart was pretty much hung up on a string becase that'd mean US700 gone to waste if i'm not staying with JRR. (i already managed to purchase ticket for 29th so ticket wasn't a priority at that moment)
- tried to cancel tour reservation, found travel agent's office closed for 4 whole days.

While nervously awaiting their office to reopen...

- was told me there's a chance to sit in for some meetings, and there's a chance to meet someone i really really admire if he was in Tokyo.
- if to meet him, I have to change my flying date again, and at a cost. *weeps more* it'd be definitely worth it though.
- heart hung on a string once more to hear a confirmation (double hanging man~ T_T)

- the lottery results came out, I got the 28th ticket
- waited until 4am when their office opened that day, if they didn't email me back to let me know if i can cancel the tour reservation i'd have to call them.
- yay they allowed me to cancel *celebrates*
- managed to purchase the 30th too (yes, so i'd be going all three nights~)

Yay that's like, finally finally all settled. Except for my departure date which my friend can only confirm at the end of the week.

- double checks everything.
- to my horror.... OMG I FORGOT TO CHANGE THE CONCERT ATTENDEE'S NAME TO MINE DURING TICKET BOOKING. *stabbed in the heart*
- *panicks and email JRR*
- told not to worry, they will send out an email again regarding the passport number and reservation number to confirm.

I really died a little inside right there.

Dear God, any more of this I'd get high blood pressure or a heart attack soon. I'm pretty sure my lifespan just shortened a couple years over these few days.

X Japan tickets can be obtained via the J Rock Revolution website.

Last night I dreamt I was being chased by my editor for a comics anthology I'd started working on since August, and have zero page done so far.

He actually came to personally look for me. I so didn't want to open my door. *weeps* Without a choice I had to explain that I wanted to scrap the initial storyboard/photoshoot and wanted to do a 2page concept story, and then I showed him the shots from "of the Night" (which was indeed my 2nd attempt shoot for the anthology, but I later decided wasn't good enough for the submission).

I was (and am) so guilty. T_T

Once again weekend was spent completely on work, trying to do retouching for the photos due this week. Ah ah~ I think I overdid it, and to top it off with the amount of sleep I'd been losing over staying up to check on the X Japan ticketing information... I'm finally officially so unwell that I can't get out of bed.

Final details are not confirmed, but I should be heading to Tokyo at the end of march to mid-late April. Since I'm already spending a bomb on the whole thing, I might as well stay longer to organize a few shoots.

If there is anyone in Tokyo, or who is going to the concert and wanna hang out, feel free to drop me a note. ^^

For a while I'd been having enquiries for me to hold a workshop, I promise I am considering doing a small and manageable one this year.

Here's also a warm welcome to my blog's new readers~ *showers confetti* Please don't be shy and feel free to comment and leave your footsteps all over the pages.

I also had a dream about myself being very curious about what kind of students check my blog from MIT and Oxford. XDDDD

And the interview scans I'd promised from a while ago. I spoke briefly about inspirations, what I use, directing models and forming styles. Sorry it's in traditional Chinese, the interview was actually done in English, and they had to translate it. But I won't be posting my original as I think my answers were too informal and different sounding from these. ^^;

<3

Happy Valentine's day~ This is pure moitie love you see, these iron gates cost a bomb, and we all love them.

I also realize it's the 15th in SG time, but what the heck~ XDDD

Been asked to give a talk about my sporting career at TJC. It was so funny I totally didn't know how to say no.

Shot today, spent most of the time sitting on the edge of a scaffolding, fearing i'd either fall off or drop the digital back. I'm probably more afraid of the latter.

So so tired. Shooting again later. Will go see a dentist on Saturday. I'm somehow falling very very ill everywhere after I started work. Gah.

Ah back to my pictures, so many deadlines. ;_;

Sapphire.

This is getting extremely unhealthy. My working hours, that is.

Finally finished the 6 pics for the editorial. Oh man I'm so sleepy ;_; Only an hour before I have to leave for work. *weeps*

The above were shot on Sunday. The last shoot that felt like a shoot (or at least for myself) was Dec 31. I'm almost paranoid about how little I'd been shooting, and the mountain high of backlog is just... I don't even wanna look at it T_T

There're a couple more from this shoot, I can't decide which ones I like better. Ah well I guess I'll just retouch all of them later on when I have the time.

Happy Chinese New Year!

I know there should be a lot of reds and confetti going, but no matter, I'm sure this is enough.

Noah had a 2page interview/feature in this month's Advanced Photoshop (Issue40). Looks good, perhaps a little too squeezed with them trying to fit in all the images. But it's the first in a long time, both of us has had been putting off doing interviews for quite a while because they just take up an incredible amount of time... Anyway I'd try to do some nice scans of it, together with my previous interview for the Taiwanese magazine so they'd be readable. :D

I find Chinese New Year an odd ordeal for me... I stopped going out to collect Ang Paos at a really early age insisting I wanted to rest instead, but if anyone wanna visit and give me red packets please feel free. kthxbai. XD

Did a shoot on Tuesday. There was a super gorgeous pair of Christian Louboutin heels that all girls on the set were really to kill for.
Shot this during camera testing. Ahhhhh I want~~~ And they were on a girl who looked a little like Lily Cole.
Anyway it's alright to show these shots because, eventually, you see neither her face nor these heels (which weren't included because they weren't sample pieces and the stylists got too worried about damaging them over anything else). Ahhhh welll. T___T

Alright gotta work on my DI, once again happy chinese new year~~

Flood of Rain is my new obsession.

Peixuan was speechless when she heard Submerge at my place, Ken sounds so much like Gackt (super fan, I bet she watched all the Hey Hey Hey shows he was in) it isn't even funny.

The lack of shooting (photos) has finally hit me. I actually had a dream about shooting with Sinsong, we'd been talking about shooting together again since forever but it just didn't have time to happen. Gah this will not go on.
