Motherland Chronicles #31 - Book of Roses

Motherland Chronicles #31 - Book of Roses

Photography: Zhang Jingna
Styling: Phuong My
Hair: Junya Nakashima
Makeup: Viktorija Bowers
Model: Germaine Persinger
Photo Assistants: Ngoc Vu, Ernie Chang, Tiffany Liu

Dress: Phuong My
Earrings: Harlequin Romantique

This was part of a shoot where I got overly ambitious and tried to do 3 completely different shots for Motherland Chronicles, when I usually do only 1 or 2.

I had the concepts and clothes all planned out, and even an order as to how I'll be posting the shots, only to realize on morning of shoot that the very first look was missing its dress, because I had forgotten to confirm with the designer I was borrowing from as I was super busy shooting the days before. I was so sad. T_T;;;

But!! I got to do braids and pearls, and books and flying petals, which is like all my favorite things combined. So not all is lost.

And my team has levelled up to professional petal-throwers. Which is rather awesome.

Here's a couple behind-the-scenes:

I like this shot a lot because it feels kind of poetic. But rather unintentionally, I realized later that it's a perfect a side by side comparison between a seamless paper backdrop and the Savage Black/White Collapsible.

Because the collapsible is made from light-absorbing fabric, it gives a much cleaner black background than the regular seamless paper backdrops which reflect light. It's also mobile and easy to set up since it folds and unfolds like a large reflector. Pretty handy. :D

Viktorija touching up makeup and Junya the hair. I love braids.

Reviewing photos~

Going to L.A. this Thursday for more Motherland stuff! Can't wait to show you what we're working on. :D

Interesting photo "with the book"...Other photos by composite too are interesting...
The girl, any magazines can print you,but it does not mean, that you have comprehended a photo...
Sometimes, when I look your photos,I would like "to slam" of you face by palm and to tell "wake up the girl"...Excuse, that so I "think"...

Good grief, if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all... Jingna you're an inspiration, talented, and wonderfully kind. The fella above could learn from that and develop some manners!

To you it is easier than what you so have written?...
I can of not write of the comments...
I never lost...
For me a photo(as well as design) only "comprehension" of the world...
Now I work in style of operational system which will not be accessible to designers from microsoft and through tens years...It is not necessary to "give" your a "dreams" for a reality...
As well concerning to a photo...I do not have desire someone to explain, that such a photo...
I know Zinga some years...
and if her is interested drooling fans - it's her right...

Nik, you must have something better to do with your day than say impolite things to people. Go back to your little cave where you belong, Troll. It's a beautiful world, quit fucking with it :)

To NIk,

No one can can understand a word you are saying. And for the record, I am not a "drooling fan" I am a friend of Jingna"s in real life, and a fellow photographer who respects her dedication to her work and all the passion she puts into it. You my friend, are what is known as an Internet troll, with nothing positive to say. So on behalf of myself, and the rest of the planet who loves Jingna"s work .... Kindly go somewhere else to offer out your face slaps ......

I have looked your photos...If you want,I can write the opinion, but this "opinion" to you it is not pleasant...For the beginning I would advise you to address to the psychologist(it without insults) that this person has relieved you of "psychological traumas"...It is not interesting to me where your soul "will get"...(Only do not take offence at my words...)The "hysterics, schizophrenia, fear, etc." appear from those a photo, that I have looked on your site (only do not take offence at my words)...About a composition I at all do not mention, it is obvious you "did not learn"...I shall give of a word of the photographer at which I studied, he spoke " in a photo many idiots and it is necessary to be able to understand - that idiocy, and that a photo "...My real apologies for these words...

p.s.Later (after written) I have read your biography... Apologies for my words, but these words correspond to really...

If you "are so polite", it is not necessary встревать in another's " an exchange of opinion "...You to it did not learn?...Ourselves with her we shall define a degree of "politeness"...

(Girl)If you remember, washing the first photo which I have placed at a forum where we have started to communicate, there was a dedication of Leni Riefenstahl...This stupid world hated this person because in her "there lived the woman"...And in you "there lives the woman"(and not only)...But you live among "idiots"...Your photos lose much because of use by you of optics Canon...(For example, you never will "feel" a black-white photo if you do not photograph optics by Pentax,Nikon,if certainly you wish to comprehend a photo...)etc,etc...The photo is a derivative of the photographer and phototechnic, light and a composition...If you do not understand "photopicture of an objective" you do not understand "creation of a photo"...I looked some your photos from that period which we did not communicate...Wall...You try "to be pulled out",but unsuccessfully...

Nik if you are so dedicated to teach and critic...at least do more effort to learn proper english. And also stop being such a bother and preach nonsense about gear stuff. How ironic to talk about comprehension and communication with such low communication skills

Do not take offence, but if you consider, that "drawing of objective" it are nonsenses, that you absolutely illiterate person "in a photo"...Can be learn russian and read a lot of written about "drawing of objective"...(To read a "Torah" it is necessary to learn a "Hebrew", instead of to translate...)If your eyes do not see it,it does not mean, that it is not present...The apology for comparison, some animals(as speak scientists) do not distinguish color,it does not mean, that color is not present...My language - Japanese, but I have forgotten it...When I can return to Japan,I shall recollect...And,I do not teach... I speak, because of what she cannot find the balance necessary to her..."The wrong optics" through a spectrum influences a psychological condition of consciousness, leading then to a dejectedness...Optics Canon approaches to more primitive psychological device, than at her...Excuse,but you dilettante not only in optics, but also in psychology...
